Perennia’s code of ethics

Supplies and provisions

  • Prioritize suppliers who:
    • • are part of the social economy;
    • • are local (within a 100 km radius);
    • • are involved in sustainable development.
  • Prioritize certified products and materials.
  • Encourage suppliers to evolve their practices.

Operations and office management

  • Use eco-responsible supplies: 100% post-consumer paper, ecological cleaners, etc.
  • Use re-usable dishes.
  • Prioritize the purchase of office technology that has been recommended by an NGO (Greenpeace, WWF) or EPEAT.
  • Minimize printing and print documents on both sides.
  • Send invoices electronically.
  • Recycle ink cartridges.
  • Prioritize electronic filing of information and documents over printing.
  • Prioritize printing in black and white.

Waste management

  • Collect waste in three streams (glass/plastic/metal, paper, non-recyclable garbage).
  • Compost organic waste in-house.
  • Perennia is certified at level one of the "Ici, on recycle" program.

Transportation

  • Emphasize active modes of transport (walking, bicycle), car sharing and public transit.
  • Prioritize virtual meetings and approvals, and teleconferences over travel.
  • Use carbon trading to compensate our greenhouse gases.

Creative process

  • Use eco-conception strategies in our processes.
  • Avoid participating in “greenwashing” campaigns and guide clients toward responsible communications.
  • Use, whenever possible, a lifecycle analysis methodology in our projects.
  • Ensure the material, structural and aesthetic longevity of our concepts.
  • Present digitally to our clients, up until the “ready to photograph” stage and avoid excessive printing.
  • During brainstorming, choose formats that limit waste and paper loss; carefully consider the volume of print-outs in order to reduce paper as much as possible.
  • Prioritize offset printing on Enviro100 (or equivalent) paper, using soy inks so that print collateral is recycled, recyclable and/or biodegradable.
  • Conduct ongoing research into techniques and technologies that have the lowest impact on the environment.
  • Commit to and respect the principals of the Designers Accord.

Energy consumption

  • Use low energy consumption lighting, such as compact fluorescent, neon and L.E.D.
  • Reduce the use of heat and air conditioning.
  • Turn off and unplug computers and all electronic equipment at the end of the day.

Promotional events

  • Send invitations by email.
  • Select a local caterer.
